Raglan material or fabric does not exist. Raglan refers to the style of the shirt rather than the material it is made out of. Raglan sleeves are shirt sleeves with diagonal seams from the neckline to the underarm area, creating a long, continuous sleeve from the collar to the underarm. Most shirts with raglan sleeves are constructed of a fabric known as a jersey knit, which has a flexible, elastic composition because of the interlocking thread loops. This makes them ideal for a shirt built for ease of movement. However, many clothes are available with raglan sleeves made of different materials. For example, waterproof jackets are frequently made of special waterproof material and feature raglan sleeves to allow relief workers, firemen, and others to move around despite wearing bulky coats.
