Reproduction is the process by which living things produce more of their own kind. In class 4, students learn about reproduction in animals, including the different ways animals reproduce. Animals can reproduce in two ways:
- Asexual Reproduction: In this type of reproduction, only a single organism gives rise to a new individual. Examples of asexual reproduction include binary fission, fragmentation, and sporogenesis.
- Sexual Reproduction: This type of reproduction involves the production of an offspring by the fusion of male and female gametes. Students learn about the different animals that produce babies and those that lay eggs, as well as the lifecycles of animals such as hens, frogs, fish, and butterflies.
Overall, the purpose of reproduction is to ensure the continuity of species, generation after generation.
