Roleplay logging, also known as combat logging, is a term used in roleplaying games to refer to players who log off or go AFK (away from keyboard) during active roleplay. It is considered a violation of the rules in many roleplaying communities, as it disrupts the flow of the game and can be used to avoid negative consequences of in-game actions. Combat logging is specifically defined as when a player exits their game to avoid an RP (roleplay) situation, such as being arrested, charged with a crime, or while being booked in jail. It is important for players to deal with the consequences of any scene on the next log-in, and to contact the other parties involved if they have disconnected due to ISP interruption or cannot finish an interaction due to legitimate circumstances. Failure to do so within a certain time frame can result in a combat log violation. Roleplay logs can also refer to written records of roleplay sessions, which can be used for reference or storytelling purposes.
