Rudrabhishek is a Vedic Hindu ritual where Lord Shiva is worshipped in his Rudra form and given a sacred bath, along with flowers and holy materials, while his 108 names are chanted. The ceremony is performed to please the deity and eliminate evil forces and bring prosperity in the house. The recitation of Sri Rudram, found in chapters 16 and 18 of the Yajur Veda, is an essential part of the ceremony. The ritual is performed to seek blessings and good health from God. Rudrabhishek puja is performed to wipe out negative vibes from life or potential threats, repent past misdeeds, and promote the soul’s spiritual development. The following materials are required for the puja: flowers, ghee, panchamrit, incense sticks, curd, honey, sugar, milk, and gangajal (water of River Ganga). The puja is performed on Mahashivratri, which takes place in the month of Shravan, a rainy month according to Hinduism, in July-August. Rudrabhishek puja is considered to be one of the finest, purest, and compelling rituals in Hinduism. The benefits of Rudrabhishek puja include gaining prosperity in career and job, disposing of any evil forces or effects of bad deeds, and guarding against health-related and financial dangers surrounding the life of a person. Rudrabhishek puja can be performed in front of an established Shiva Linga in a temple or at home.
