Russell Brand, a comedian and actor, has been accused of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse by four women. The allegations date back to between 2006 and 2013, when he was at the height of his fame working for the BBC and Channel 4 and starring in Hollywood films. One of the women said she was 16 (the age of consent in the U.K.) and Brand was 30 when they began a relationship that included abuse and sexual assault. In addition to the sexual misconduct complaints, the report contained accusations by former co-workers who allege Brand engaged in a wide array of inappropriate behavior during his time as a TV and radio presenter. Brand has denied all the allegations, saying that all his relationships have been consensual. He has also attacked the British government and social media platforms for their handling of the allegations. The allegations have led to investigations by the BBC and Channel 4. Thames Valley police are also investigating claims made by a woman who contacted the force with “new information” about “harassment and stalking” .
