Saknong is a Tagalog term that refers to a group of lines forming a unit in a poem, song, or verse. It is usually composed of four lines with almost the same length. In poetry, a stanza is a group of lines within a poem, usually set off from others by a blank line or indentation. Stanzas can have regular rhyme and metrical schemes, but they are not required to have either. In Tagalog, saknong can also refer to a section of a rice field assigned to one for his own work of harvesting.
