SanDisk software refers to SanDisk Secure Access, which is the official software that comes with SanDisk USB flash drives. Its primary function is to protect sensitive data on the drive by creating a password-protected folder called SanDiskSecureAccess Vault. The software uses 128-bit AES encryption to encrypt the data and move locked files into the vault, which can only be accessed with a password. SanDisk Secure Access also comes with a backup facility for up to 2 GB of data online, which can be used to share personal pictures, documents, confidential business secrets, or banking details safely via secure media.

SanDisk Secure Access is compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems. The software is available for download on the SanDisk website and can be installed on Windows by downloading the SanDisk Security for Windows file and following the installation instructions. Once installed, users can enable security by swiping the dot to the right and setting a password.

SanDisk Secure Access has been rebranded to SanDisk PrivateAccess, and customers are urged to install the software update immediately to keep their vaults secure. The update resolves key derivation function issues and uses PBKDF2-SHA256 together with a randomly generated salt to address the issues.
