Shardiya Navratri is a nine-day Hindu festival celebrated across India with great pomp and enthusiasm. It is dedicated to the worship of Maa Durga and her nine manifestations, collectively known as Navdurga. This year, Shardiya Navratri will begin on October 15 and end on October 24 with Dussehra. During the nine days of the festival, devotees honour each of the incarnations of the goddess. The festival is a time of introspection, purification, and rejuvenation.

One of the traditions during Shardiya Navratri is to wear different colours associated with each day of the festival. These colours have symbolic significance and are believed to represent the various manifestations and attributes of the Goddess. Here are the commonly followed colour schemes for each day:

• Navratri Day 2: White (Brahmacharini)
• Navratri Day 3: Red (Chandraghanta)
• Navratri Day 4: Royal Blue (Kushmanda)
• Navratri Day 5: Yellow (Skandamata)
• Navratri Day 6: Green (Katyayani)
• Navratri Day 7: Grey (Kalratri)
• Navratri Day 8: Purple (Mahagauri)
• Navratri Day 9: Peacock Green (Siddhidatri)

During the nine-day festivities, devotees worship Goddess Durga and her nine incarnations, also known as the ‘Navadurga’. The festival of Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day, which is also known as Vijaya Dashami. The festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil and is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country, especially in Maharashtra, Bengal, and Gujarat.
