The acronym SPAM does not stand for anything related to unsolicited commercial email (UCE) . Instead, it is a portmanteau of "spiced ham" that was created by actor Ken Daigneau, the brother of a Hormel executive, during a naming contest. Members of staff at the SPAM museum say it stands for Specially Produced American Meat).
