Spotify Jam is a new feature introduced by Spotify that allows Premium subscribers to create a personalized, real-time listening session for their group to tune into together. With Jam, Premium subscribers can invite others to contribute through a shared queue and enjoy a musical experience made exclusively for everyone listening. Anyone on Spotify can join a Jam, and users can invite others to join by sharing a QR code, a link, or by tapping their phones together if they are logged in to Spotify and their Bluetooth is turned on.

To start a Jam, Premium subscribers can select a playlist or song they are excited about and click the "Start a Jam" button by clicking the speaker icon at the bottom of their screen or by hitting the three-dot menu within their favorite playlist or song. Premium users can start a Jam by accessing the playlist context menu, device picker, or connecting to a speaker. Users on the same WiFi will receive an invite to join the Jam once they open the Spotify app.

Once a Jam is started, Jam will help users find the perfect songs to add to the queue, finding the overlaps in their listening preferences to deliver music recommendations that everyone will love. Everyone in the Jam can play, pause, skip, change the volume, and add songs. As the host, Premium subscribers can turn off “Guest controls” so only they can change the volume and what’s playing. When all “Guest controls” are turned off, guests can only queue. Anyone invited can add songs to the queue and see who added which song.

Jam is available for all Spotify users globally starting from September 26, 2023.
