SRH stands for Sexual and Reproductive Health, which is a field of research, health care, and social activism that explores the health of an individuals reproductive system and sexual well-being during all stages of their life. Sexual health is relevant throughout an individuals lifespan, not only to those in the reproductive years, but also to both the young and the elderly. SRH encompasses issues that span the lives of both men and women, including but not limited to reproductive health and menopause. SRH is critically influenced by gender norms, roles, expectations, and power dynamics, and needs to be understood within specific social, economic, and political contexts.
Several decades of research have shown and continue to show the profound benefits of investment in sexual and reproductive health. Such efforts have resulted in decreased complications secondary to unsafe childbirths and abortions, unintended pregnancies, STIs, and sexual violence. When women can make informed choices about their bodies, they can make better choices for their families, their education, their livelihoods, and their happiness. However, access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services remains a global issue, especially in the developing world.
It is important to note that SRH can also refer to the Steering Responsive Headlights feature in certain Subaru models.
