Student Athlete Scholars is a program that focuses on improving college acceptance rates and recruitability by college coaches for its members. It offers unique scholarships to student-athletes to help them increase their chances of getting into college and improve their recruitment.
In New York State, the NYSPHSAA (New York State Public High School Athletic Association) honors student-athletes, teams, and schools that excel in the classroom with the Scholar-Athlete award. To receive Scholar-Athlete team recognition with a certificate, the team’s average GPA for 75% of the roster must be greater than or equal to 90.00. If a team does not meet the Scholar-Athlete Team Criteria, the individuals on that team with a 90.00 or above GPA are still eligible to receive a pin and will be considered an Individual Scholar-Athlete.
The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) also offers a Student Athlete Scholarship to rising high school students graduating in 2024, 2025, 2026, or 2027, and recently graduated 2023 seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The scholarship is dedicated to student-athletes who are passionate about and excel within their respective sports, and athletes of all genders and of all sports are encouraged to apply.
