On October 4th, 2023, there will be a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) conducted by FEMA at approximately 10:20 a.m. AKT. The test will be conducted in two parts to test the capabilities of EAS and WEA, scheduled to begin at approximately 2:20 PM Eastern Time. The goal of the test is to ensure that the systems remain an effective means of warning the public about emergencies, especially those at the national level. If the October 4th test date is postponed, the backup testing date will be October 11th.
