Swish is a mobile payment system that allows users to send money to friends, companies, and organizations using their mobile phones). It was launched in 2012 by six large Swedish banks, in cooperation with Bankgirot and the Central Bank of Sweden). Swish works between Danske Bank, Forex Bank, Handelsbanken, ICA Banken, Länsförsäkringar, Marginalen, Nordea, SEB, Skandia, Sparbanken Syd, Svea, Swedbank, Sparbankerna, and Ålandsbanken. The service is free for private users since the start of 2012).
To use Swish, users need to download the Swish app and Mobilt BankID to their mobile phones, then register for Swish through their online banking service. Once they have finished those steps, their bank account is connected to their mobile phone number, and they can begin sending and receiving money easily using their mobile phone. Users can also scan a QR code to initiate a payment.
Swish was originally intended for transactions between individuals, but it is now used for flea markets, collections at church services, and by sports clubs and other organizations as payment at small events where a credit card reader would be too expensive or otherwise impractical. Small companies who wished to avoid credit card charges and simplify online payments soon followed suit).
In addition to the mobile payment system, there is also a Swish Dashboard app that presents personalized and hand-curated deals, 100+ instant games, breaking news coverage, and accurate weather forecasts for your area. There is also a Swish for macOS app that allows users to control their Mac with intuitive swipe, pinch, tap and hold gestures.
