The Swiss system is a non-eliminating tournament format that features a fixed number of rounds of competition, but considerably fewer than for a round-robin tournament. It is used in various games and sports, including chess, bridge, backgammon, Scrabble, and esports tournaments. The Swiss system has the advantage of not eliminating anyone, and it gives everybody their best chance to progress, regardless of results. In each round, players are paired with another player of similar skill or points gained from winning matches/games in previous rounds. The Swiss system is used in the group stage of some esports tournaments, such as the League of Legends Worlds 2023. The Swiss stage will have a total of 5 rounds, and in each round, the teams with the same record will play against one another. This works until a team gets two wins or two losses, and then they will have to play Bo3 qualification (or elimination matches) .
