Tabloid size paper measures 11" x 17" or 279 × 432 mm. It is part of the North American loose paper size series and is commonly used to make tabloids or smaller sized newspapers. The term "tabloid" has its roots in magazine and commercial publishing. Tabloid size paper is used for a variety of applications including brochures, flyers, newsletters, and other folded or over-sized documents. It is also used in the design industry for printing 8.5×11″ documents with a full bleed (color that goes to the edge of the paper) and to print oversized images such as flyers or small posters.

Tabloid size paper is less commonly used in everyday office printing applications and consequently it is more difficult to find in retail paper outlets. However, it is available across most of the product line for inkjet, laser, and color laser papers. The following inkjet and laser products are available in tabloid size paper:

  • Tabloid Size Paper Bright White Bond, weights: 24, 39, 47, and 58 lb.
  • Matte, weights: 28, 36 (one-sided), and 50 lb.

  • HP Brochure and Flyer Paper (Gloss)

To find out if your printer can print on tabloid size paper, check your printer manual or look for the section that talks about what sizes and weights your printer can handle. If you don’t have a physical copy of your manual, usually you can find a PDF version online. You can also find out by opening a program from which you can print a document, going through the motions of printing the document (no matter the size), and seeing what paper options are available to you. Look for “Tabloid,” “Ledger,” or anything with “11×17″ beside it. If you see it, then your printer can handle 11×17″ paper, if you don’t see it, then your printer probably can’t handle it.
