Tahajjud prayer, also known as the "night prayer" or "Qiyam-u-lail", is a voluntary prayer performed by followers of Islam. It is not one of the five obligatory prayers required of all Muslims, although the Islamic prophet, Muhammad, was recorded as performing the tahajjud prayer regularly himself and encouraging his companions. Tahajjud prayer is a nafl or voluntary prayer that is offered to attain mental strength and peace, and it is also known to avert acts of sin. It is usually performed after Isha (the compulsory nightly prayer) and before Fajr (the mandatory morning prayer) . The Tahajjud prayer is highly rewarding due to its mentions in the Quran and by the Prophet (PBUH) . The method of Tahajjud prayer in terms of movement is the same as other prayers, and the surah after Fatiha in this prayer is not determined. Tahajjud prayer does not entail a specific number of rakahs that must be performed, nor is there any maximum limit that may be performed. It would be fulfilled even if one prayed just one rak
ah of Witr after `Ishaa; however, it is traditionally prayed with at least two rakat which is known as shifa followed by witr as this is what Muhammad did before fajr. Among the advantages of Tahajjud prayers are the dua quickly answered, peace of mind, an abundance of rizqi, and human betrayal protection.
