The "TC" on Minnesota Twins hats stands for "Twin Cities," which refers to the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The Twins original "TC" logo was created when the team relocated from Washington to Minnesota in 1961. The team was reluctant to put an "M" on the cap, as most people would have thought that also stood for Minneapolis, so they embraced the Twin Cities, and "TC" became the mark. The "TC" remained on the Twins caps until 1987, when they adopted new uniforms and introduced the block "M" logo. However, the "TC" cap logo was brought back as a home alternate in honor of former owner Calvin Griffith after his death in 1999, and it has been the sole primary mark since the Twins most recent rebranding in 2010. The Twins revealed a new hat design in 2022 that features an "M" with an overhead star in addition to the standard "TC" logo. This cap nods to Minnesotas state motto, "LÉtoile du Nord," which means "the star of the north" in French.
