William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. Specifically, he was born in a half-timbered house on Henley Street, which is now known as Shakespeares Birthplace. The house was owned by Williams father, John Shakespeare, who lived and worked there for fifty years. John Shakespeare was a glove-maker and wool dealer, and the house doubled as a glovers shop where he worked. The house is now a museum open to the public and is owned and managed by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
