The capital of Angola is Luanda. Luanda is a large port city located on the Atlantic coast of northern Angola, and it is the countrys largest city and one of its busiest seaports. The city was founded in 1576 by Paulo Dias de Novais and initially settled by the Portuguese, and it became the administrative center of the Portuguese colony of Angola in 1627. Luanda is regarded as the capital of the Mbundu peoples, who have their roots in the surrounding area. The city has a warm equable climate, and skyscrapers and wide avenues give it a modern appearance.
