The capital of Cambodia is Phnom Penh. Phnom Penh was founded in 1434 to succeed Angkor Thom as the capital of the Khmer nation but was abandoned several times before being reestablished in 1865 by King Norodom. The city is the nations primate city and its economic, industrial, and cultural center. It has a rich cultural history and offers many breathtaking attractions, such as the Royal Palace, the Central Market, and the Tonle Sap river.
