The Carabao Cup is an annual knockout competition in mens domestic football in England. It is one of the three major honours of the domestic football season. The competition is open to all clubs participating in the Premier League and the English Football League. The winner of the competition will qualify for the play-off round of the 2024–25 UEFA Conference League. The Carabao Cup is the EFLs showpiece cup competition. It is played over seven rounds, all single leg, with the exception of the semi-finals, which operate as home and away ties. Matches before the final are normally scheduled for midweek. The final is usually in late February, far before the FA Cup final and the end of the domestic season. The Carabao Cup has had many sponsors in the last four decades, and Carabao is the current title sponsor of the League Cup, as it has been since 2017, and will remain so until 2024. The competition was historically and colloquially referred to as the League Cup. The most successful club in the competition is Liverpool, with nine titles.
