The Cleveland Browns have multiple mascots, including Chomps and SJ. However, the teams original mascot was Brownie the Elf, who was first introduced in 1946. Brownie was removed as the teams official mascot in 1961 by Art Modell, who bought the team and banished Brownie. However, Brownie has since returned as the teams midfield logo, an oversized rendition of his original mysterious appearance preceding Clevelands inaugural season in 1946. The latest caricature of Brownie spans the 45-yard lines horizontally, exceeds the hashmarks vertically, and can be easily spotted from airplanes passing overhead. Brownie is described as a tall elf who is the "elf of the people" and loves Cleveland.
