The EFL Cup, also known as the Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons, is an annual knockout competition in mens domestic football in England. It is one of the three major honours of the domestic football season. The competition is open only to the 92 teams in the top four divisions of English football, including the Premier League and the English Football League. The winners receive the EFL Cup, of which there have been three designs, and qualify for European football. From 1972-1973 until the 2019–20 season, the winners received a place in the UEFA Europa League, and starting with the 2020–21 season, they qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League. Liverpool is the most successful club in the competition, having won it nine times.
