The 2023 ICC Mens Cricket World Cup is the 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup, a quadrennial One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament contested by mens national teams and organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The tournament is being hosted by India and started on October 5, 2023, and is scheduled to conclude on November 19, 2023. The tournament will feature 10 teams, and the main route for qualification was through the new ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The format of the tournament is as follows:
-
Round-robin stage: All 10 teams will play each other once in a single round-robin format, resulting in 45 matches. A victory earns the winning side two points in every match, while a no-result will mean the sides share a point each.
-
Semi-finals: The top four teams at the end of the round-robin stage will qualify for the semi-finals. The winners of the two subsequent semi-finals will contest in the final, where the champion will be crowned.
The tournament will be played across 10 venues in India, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Dharamshala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune.
