The Free Church of England is an episcopal church based in England that was founded in the middle of the 19th century when a number of congregations separated from the established Church of England. The church was founded principally by Evangelical or Low Church clergy and congregations in response to what were perceived as attempts to re-introduce medieval Roman Catholic dogmas and practices into the Church of England, Englands established church. The church is made up of people of all ages, from many different backgrounds with different gifts and abilities.

The doctrine of the Free Church of England is founded in the Holy Scriptures and, following the example of the Reformers, in such teaching of the ancient Fathers and Councils of the Church as are agreeable to the said Scriptures. The church believes in the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the Word of God, and the sole Rule of Faith and Practice; in the Creed commonly called “The Apostles’ Creed”; in the Divine Institution of the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper; and in the Doctrines of Grace substantially as they are set forth in the Thirty-nine Articles of Religion.

The Free Church of England is also known as the Reformed Episcopal Church of the United Kingdom and Ireland. In January 2013, the Church of England recognized the holy orders of the Free Church of England. The church has 24 congregations in two dioceses, North and South.
