CE stands for "Common Era". It is a secular equivalent of AD (Anno Domini), which means "in the year of the Lord" in Latin. CE represents the time from year 1 and onward, and it is used by Jews and other non-Christians to refer to the same system of reckoning, which has become the basis for the civil date in much of the world.
