Wi-Fi is a family of wireless network protocols based on the IEEE 802.11 family of standards, which are commonly used for local area networking of devices. It was coined by a marketing firm as a catchy name for the technology and was not originally meant as a short form for wireless fidelity. However, the notion has become widely accepted now. Wi-Fi makes an electronic gadget utilize ISM radio frequencies to transfer data or link to the internet.
