The acceleration due to gravity on the surface of the Moon is approximately 1.625 m/s², which is about 16.6% of the acceleration due to gravity on Earths surface. This means that objects on the Moon weigh only about 1/6 of their weight on Earth. For example, a 180-pound person on Earth would weigh only 30 pounds on the Moon because of the Moon’s weaker gravity. The Moons smaller mass and radius combine to produce a gravitational field at its surface only one-sixth that of our Earth.
