According to the Ohio Medicaid guidelines for 2023, the income limit for Medicaid varies based on family size. Families with monthly incomes lower than the guidelines listed in Chart #1 must apply for Medicaid, while families with incomes greater than the guidelines in Chart #2 do not need to apply. The income limits for family sizes 1 to 10 are as follows:
- 1: $1,823
- 2: $2,465
- 3: $3,108
- 4: $3,750
- 5: $4,393
- 6: $5,035
- 7: $5,678
- 8: $6,320
- 9: $6,963
- 10: $7,605
These income limits do not include SSI, child support, VA benefits, worker’s compensation, or grandparent income when calculating monthly income. Stepparent income should be included in monthly income calculation. It is important to note that Ohios Medicaid enrollment grew significantly due to the pandemic-related continuous coverage rules, and states are allowed to disenroll people starting in April 2023, and could begin the process of starting to redetermine eligibility as early as February 2023.
