• Radiation therapy: Radiation therapy involves using high-energy beams of radiation to kill cancer cells. Different types of radiation therapy can be used to treat squamous cell carcinoma, including superficial radiation therapy, external beam radiation therapy, and brachytherapy.

• Topical medications: Two topical medications, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and imiquimod, can be applied directly onto the affected skin as treatment for superficial squamous cell carcinomas. These medications are not yet FDA-approved for treating SCCs, but they are sometimes used for superficial tumors.

• Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy drugs may be an option if the squamous cell skin cancer is spreading.
