India does not have a national language, as per the Constitution of India. However, Hindi and English are the official languages of India. Hindi belongs to the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European family of languages and is one of the 22 official languages of India. English is the second official language in India and is primarily used in business, education, and official documents. The Indian constitution recognizes 22 official languages, including Bengali, Hindi, Maithili, Nepalese, Sanskrit, Tamil, Urdu, Assamese, Dogri, Kannada, Gujarati, Bodo, Manipur (also known as Meitei), Oriya, Marathi, Santali, Telugu, Punjabi, Sindhi, Malayalam, Konkani, and Kashmiri.
