The nationality of Argentina is Argentine. Argentina is a multiethnic society, home to people of various ethnic, religious, and national origins, with the majority of the population made up of Old World immigrants and their descendants. The country has a racially and ethnically diverse population, and the territory of what today is Argentina was first inhabited by numerous indigenous peoples. In the 2010 census, some 955,032 Argentines (2.38% of the population) identified as indigenous or first-generation descendants of indigenous peoples, while 149,493 (0.37% of the population) identified as Afro-Argentine. The majority of the population is of European descent, mostly Spanish and Italian, and mestizo (mixed European and Amerindian ancestry) .
