The Prime Ministers XIII is a representative rugby league team comprising Australian players from National Rugby League clubs that did not qualify for the NRL Finals or whose teams were knocked out during the first three weeks of the finals. The team was first coached by former Queensland State of Origin coach Mal Meninga in 2005, and since then, the team has played against Papua New Guinea annually. The team is selected by the Prime Minister of Australia and is made up of predominantly rising talent from the NRL. The team plays after the NRL and NRLW grand final in October. The womens Prime Ministers XIII is also selected and plays against the womens national teams of other countries. The PNG Prime Ministers XIII is the name of a representative rugby league team comprising Papua New Guinean players from the Papua New Guinea National Rugby League, PNG Hunters, and other overseas clubs. The team is selected to play an annual fixture against the Australian Prime Ministers XIII in Papua New Guinea in the final weeks of the rugby league season.
