The Ryder Cup is a biennial golf tournament played between teams representing the United States and Europe. The 44th Ryder Cup will be held from September 29th to October 1st, 2023, at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Guidonia Montecelio, northeast of Rome, Italy. The tournament was originally scheduled for 2022, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Ryder Cup consists of five match-play sessions played over three days, with each session featuring four matches. The first two days include one four-match session of four-ball and one four-match session of foursomes. The final day is reserved for 12 singles matches. Each match is worth one point, with matches ending in a draw worth ½ point to each side. The first team to reach 14 ½ points wins the Ryder Cup. If the matches end in a 14-14 draw, the team holding the Ryder Cup retains it.

The European team will be made up of the top three eligible players from the European Points List, the top three eligible players from the World Points List, and six captains picks. The US team will consist of the top six eligible players on the points list, with the six remaining slots going to eligible players who are Captain’s Selections and will be announced by the captain following the 2023 Tour Championship.

The Marco Simone Golf and Country Club was redesigned specifically with the drama of match play in mind, with the previous layout rerouted not only to provide numerous risk and reward opportunities for the world’s leading players but also to maximize the natural rolling countryside terrain. Spectators will have unrivaled vantage points of the on-course action as well as distant views of the famous Eternal City, including spectacular views of St Peter’s Basilica and of the Castle of Marco Simone, which together will provide the backdrop to golf’s greatest team contest.
