The official mascot of Texas A&M University is Reveille, also known as the First Lady of Aggieland. Reveille is a Rough Collie, and the current mascot is Reveille X, who assumed her mascot duties in May 2021. The tradition of Reveille dates back to 1931 when a group of cadets adopted a dog they found along Highway 6. Her name was inspired by her habit of barking when the bugler called reveille to wake the cadets each morning). Since then, there have been ten Reveilles, and all of the deceased Reveilles, including Reveille I, are buried outside the north end of Kyle Field, where they have a special scoreboard so that they can always watch the Aggies outscore their opponents.
