The TGL Golf League is a new professional golf league that combines advanced technology with top players from the PGA TOUR for a two-hour weekly competition in prime time. It was created by TMRW Sports, a venture formed by sports executive Mike McCarley and professional golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, in partnership with the PGA Tour). The league will launch in January 2024, with events held on weeknights in conjunction with the PGA Tour schedule). The TGL season will consist of 15 regular season matches followed by playoffs and then a championship match. The league will feature six teams from six different cities, with each team having four players assigned to it. The matches will be played in a modern match-play format in a two-hour team golf competition. The TGL incorporates innovative tech with virtual and real-life elements, with matches airing live on ESPN and ESPN+. The league will take place at a purpose-built venue called SoFi Center at Palm Beach State College, which will combine a data-rich virtual course with a first-of-its-kind short game complex creating a unique experience for the fans in the stands and watching around the world. The TGL is described as a “first-of-its-kind experience” as fans will be able to spectate in an up-close-and-personal fashion at a virtual course with a short-game complex.
