The Tribe of Nova music festival is an Israeli edition of Brazils popular Universo Paralello festival, a biannual nine-day event that has hosted electronic, reggae, and hip-hop artists near the country’s southern beaches for 20 years. It is a weekend-long outdoor trance music festival that began on October 6, 2023, and was set to take place in the western Negev desert, approximately 5 km from the Gaza–Israel barrier, near kibbutz Reim. The festival was produced by an organizer called Nova (also referred to as Tribe of Nova) . The festival was meant to be an all-night dance party in a rural area, celebrating the Jewish holiday of Sukkot amid groves of eucalyptus trees only three miles from Gaza. However, on October 7, 2023, the festival was attacked by Hamas militants, resulting in the worst civilian massacre in Israeli history, with at least 260 people killed.
