The Time Variance Authority (TVA) is a fictional organization in the Marvel Comics universe that monitors realities throughout the multiverse and attempts to keep temporal interference to a minimum. They are depicted as a bureaucratic agency that acts as the judge, jury, and executioner behind any temporal anomalies in the multiverse. The TVA uses a virtually infinite number of Chronomonitors, faceless men who sit before computers in the Hall of Chronometry that monitor every event of the timeline to which they have been assigned. The TVA also employs various freelance operatives, and has a working relationship with time travelers such as Kang the Conqueror. The TVA has the power to discontinue timelines, virtually erasing them from history, and has used their powers to incarcerate time travelers such as Arno Stark, the Iron Man of Earth-8410 circa 2020 AD. Although the TVA is making its MCU debut in Loki, the vast bureaucracy has a history in the comics that dates back to when a Minuteman named Justice Peace met the God of Thunder in an issue of Thor in the 1980s.
