The Continental Breakfast Chair is an art installation created by Swedish artist Anna Uddenberg, which consists of a uniquely-shaped chair. The chair was on display at the Meredith Rosen Gallery in New York from March to April 2023. The chair is designed to represent a modern object conceived as the perfect seat for a controversial human meal, where the meal is a sexual act and the "food" is the woman, suddenly transformed into an object. The artist said the Continental Breakfast Chair stages an act of submission, where a woman becomes the symbol of passive submission. The chair is a statement, a sculpture, and a commentary on modern society. It is more than just a piece of furniture; its a symbol of artistic exploration and cultural commentary. Therefore, the Continental Breakfast Chair is not a chair for practical use, but rather an art piece with a specific meaning and purpose.
