SBI PO stands for State Bank of India Probationary Officer. It is an officer-level position in the banking sector. The role of an SBI PO includes handling daily customer transactions such as cash management, draft issuance, and managing all the major tasks in a particular bank branch. Initially, trainee SBI POs are posted as JMGS Scale 1 and may be posted at local head offices, regional business offices, SME branches, general banking branches, specialized branches like cheque clearing, pension clearing, etc. . Once they are sufficiently experienced and trained, they are given more responsibilities like budgeting, loan processing, loan approvals, marketing, and planning & managing investments.
The basic pay of an SBI PO is Rs. 41,960/- (with 4 increments) on the scale of 36000-1490/7-46430-1740/2-49910-1990/7-63840 applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I. The gross pay for the SBI PO post is between 8.20 Lakhs (minimum) to Rs. 13.08 lakhs (maximum) per annum. The monthly in-hand salary of an SBI PO is generally between INR 52,000 to 55,000 per month, which includes other facilities like house rent allowance and other allowances such as city allowance, dearness allowance, etc. .
