To identify a bird, you can use the Merlin Bird ID app by Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The app offers four ways to identify birds: answer a few simple questions, upload a photo, record a singing bird, or explore birds in a region. Merlin is powered by eBird, the worlds largest database of bird sightings, sounds, and photos, and delivers the most accurate results thanks to experienced birders who curate and annotate sightings, photos, and sounds.
Alternatively, you can browse birds by shape on the All About Birds website by Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Click on a bird shape to see a list of species in that category. The website also offers a Bird ID Wizard that asks three simple questions about a bird you are trying to identify and gives you a list of possible matches.
