A Tier 4 visa was a type of student visa that allowed international students to study in the UK. However, it has now been replaced by the Student Visa route. The Student Visa route has replaced the Tier 4 (General) student visa. The Tier 4 Student visa caters to students from outside the UK or EEA who are looking to study a full-time degree level course at a university, college, or other eligible educational institution in the UK. To be eligible for a Tier 4 Student visa, you must be 16 years or older and have been offered a place at a UK higher educational institution which is a licensed Tier 4 Sponsor. The visa allows you to arrive in the UK up to 1 week before your course starts if your course lasts 6 months or less, or up to 1 month before your course starts if your course lasts more than 6 months. The visa also allows you to work for a maximum of 20 hours per week during term-time.
