TMC in water measurement stands for "Thousand Million Cubic Feet". It is a unit of measurement commonly used in India to measure the volume of water in a reservoir or river flow. One TMC is equivalent to 1,000,000,000 cubic feet (28,000,000 m3) , 2,831 crore litres, 2.83168466×1010 litres, 2.83168466×107 cubic meters, 22,956.841139 acre feet, or 6.228835459×109 imperial gallons. The Central Water Commission of the Government of India uses 35.32 TMCft = 1 cubic kilometer (km3) as the standard unit for reporting gross and effective storage capacities of dams in India in the National Register of Large Dams (NRLD) . In agriculture, irrigation experts estimate that 1 TMC water is needed each year to irrigate 10,000 acres.
