A vent is an opening that allows air, smoke, or gas to enter or leave a closed space. It can also refer to a hole in something through which air can come in and smoke, gas, or smells can go out. Venting can refer to the act of providing something with a vent or opening, or to the act of relieving something by means of a vent. It can also refer to the act of giving free play or expression to an emotion or passion, or to the act of giving public utterance to ones opinions. Examples of venting include opening windows to vent fumes, venting anger by screaming, and venting frustration by criticizing someone.
