TRE stands for Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises, which is a series of exercises designed to assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. TRE was created by Dr. David Berceli, PhD, and it safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. The exercises are designed to be a self-help tool that can be used independently as needed throughout ones life, thereby continuously supporting and promoting personal health and wellness. TRE is being taught in more than 60 countries around the world and can be taught to individuals and groups, children, and seniors. TRE is unique because it is a safe and effective stress release technique for most people. Reported benefits of TRE include aiding the healing process, improving quality of life by releasing pent-up stress and anxiety, and treating both the mind and body. TRE operates under the principle that a persons emotions and physical body are connected, and in order for emotional disturbances to subside, areas of the body that are holding onto those emotions need to be stimulated to release them. TRE does not require individuals to talk about what happened to them, making it a valuable therapeutic practice for those who are not ready to talk about their experiences.
