Turkesterone is a phytoecdysteroid, a type of natural steroid compound found in certain plant species, including Ajuga turkestanica, various Vitex species, Triticum aestivum, and Rhaponticum acaule. It is essentially a steroid hormone in insects and certain plant species and is believed to help with deterring predators and regulating reproduction. Turkesterone is classified as a type of ecdysteroid, a class of compounds that share structural similarities with insect molting hormones. Compared to other types of ecdysteroid supplements, studies suggest that turkesterone seems to be a bit more potent, especially in regard to its anabolic (muscle-building) effects. It is often used by bodybuilders and athletes to improve strength, fat burning, muscle building, and energy. Turkesterone is generally considered safe when used within recommended dosage guidelines. A general recommendation is to begin taking a turkesterone supplement in dosages of 500 milligrams per day, typically in two divided doses. This amount should be taken for eight to 12 weeks initially, before taking a break.
