Type 2 fun is a term used to describe an activity that is not enjoyable while its happening, but is fun in retrospect. It is often uncomfortable and challenging, but it leaves you with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Examples of Type 2 fun activities include running a marathon, climbing a mountain, or doing an ultramarathon. Although it may not be enjoyable in the moment, the lessons and stories that come out of Type 2 fun are what make it all worth it. Type 2 fun is often contrasted with Type 1 fun, which is enjoyable while its happening.
