A UTR number stands for Unique Transaction Reference, which is a unique number used to identify a particular payment. It is helpful in tracking transactions as one UTR number cannot be found in two different transactions; it is unique to every transaction. UTR numbers are generated by banks for every type of financial transaction, whether it be NEFT, RTGS, bank passbooks, online bank statements, or even UPI like in this case.
To find the UTR number in Google Pay, follow these steps:
- Open the Google Pay app.
- Scroll down the screen and tap "See all payment activity" and then "All transactions."
- Tap a transaction to see the UPI transaction ID.
- Match the UPI transaction ID found in the Google Pay app to the UPI transaction ID on your bank statement. The UPI transaction ID is the first 9 digits after the slash (/).
- Match the amount in the credit section of your statement to the amount of the transaction in Google Pay.
- Confirm the credit amount is included in the closing balance on your bank statement.
If you have sent any money and the money has not reached the beneficiary’s account, then you can inquire on the customer care number of the bank. The UTR number of that transaction can be asked by the bank.
