Verna strikes a deal with Roderick and Madeline Usher, offering them a life free of repercussions in exchange for sacrificing their lineage when they die. She is a supernatural being who collects lives and precious belongings. Verna is also associated with natures most Gothic bird, the raven, and is a literal demonic figure in the series.
